TV Advertisers’ Moral Responsibility

Advertising often distorts, exaggerates, lies, and persuades. Many current tv ads are conveying a false sense that there isn’t a pandemic on in North America. Many are showing people not wearing masks or maintaining safe social distances, all giving a false and misleading impression that life is ‘back to normal’ in order to sell their products.

It’s been commented on elsewhere that politics, particularly in the States, has led to unsafe behaviors. Advertisers and companies are doing the same thing. Most people don’t have ‘filters’ to watch old-style advertising in a world that no longer exists. To say nothing of the automatic impact of these ads on children and young people. More Orwellian double-thinking is needed than many of us are capable of these daze.
