Edm. City Council in Deep Denial

This is not Vancouver. This is a winter city of cruel, harsh proportions, Canada’s northernmost burgh.
“[For snow clearing] the bike grid downtown has become a top priority.”
Totally out to lunch. More taxpayer millions siphoned off each year to pay for snow removal and repainting of lines in this bike boondoggle designed for less than 2% resident use from Oct.. to April.

City council has declared war on vehicle drivers beginning with these unnecessary, wasteful lanes, extending the war to tearing up many roads throughout the city this year without a sense of how this will affect traffic flow for years. The 30 km zones just added will bring winter traffic to gridlock. Next the city will spend more millions on signs reducing traffic in suburbia to 30 km everywhere. Absolutely nuts. It’s not drivers who are to blame for council’s ‘woes’; it is council itself in these major follies dooming one and all in what used to be a reasonably functioning city roadwise. No common sense and enormous waste of funds that could have been spent on truly worthwhile projects languishing elsewhere.
