My right eye. Macular hole surgery in January. (At least I get to ‘see’ Xmas and New Year’s.) 1/2000 chance of a botched operation. By virtue of having one macular hole, I have up to a 15% chance of getting another in the other eye. The alternatives to surgery 1 are grim enough so Total Acceptance. Keats’ Negative capability, 100%.
My humor continues to take comfort in the examples of Homer, John Milton, James Joyce, Aldous Huxley, Helen Keller, James Thurber, and Jorge Borges. Pretty good company to be in if anything goes wrong. Until then, I philosophize: What will be, will be. Or adopting Ellen’s favorite word: Anyway….
