Auditioning for the Barenaked Ladies. They decided to add me as their fifth man. They appreciated my rhythm guitar playing and lead singing. (They even had me singing Page’s “It’s All Been Done”. ) But they were also looking ahead to using some of my songs: “Until Next Year” and a modified version of “Computer Kid”. They also liked my John Lennon sound on some vocals they were planning to write. And, of course, my patented 1965 Bob Dylan imitation for “If I Had a Million Dollars”.
There were some concerns about my age (and I’d have to agree that this opportunity would have worked better in the more active 55-60 phase) and if I’d be able to stand up to the rigors of touring. But they seemed to accept that I’d wear my black winter cap )a la vintage Dylan and wouldn’t be jumping around as much as they have typically done.
Anyway, dreams continue to offer possibilities I’ve only apparently dreamed of. It was a lot of fun and one of my better sleeps in a while.
