The trucker convoy types

can go home now. They’ve missed the message that rules and masks restrictions are being removed in most provinces. They’ve ‘won’.

If that’s what they were supposedly on about, what are the other agendas that are still keeping them on the streets and roads?

If they’re against Trudeau, they should hang fire till the next election and vote against him.

None of their other issues need be taken seriously in the light of the truly significant Russia-Ukraine crisis, currently filling the news air waves. If anything, they should join other pro-Ukraine Canadian people already on the streets to protest the threat to global democracy and real, not made-up freedom/s.

“We the people here don’t want a war.”

–Bob Darin, “A Simple Song of Freedom”

“Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose”
(“The more things change, the more they remain the same.”)

Bob Darin song written in 1969 A.D.

Kenney removing restrictions and rules

for selfish, political reasons, not for reasons of actual public health and safety of the many. Totally desperate to remain CCP leader. Trying to cling to power., that’s all.

Excellent CBC Radio Drama

The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence

Dramatized by James W. Nichol.
Produced by James Ray.

Starring Barbara Chilcott as Hagar.
3 cassettes by Goose Lane editions.

A nice adaptation with many flashbacks, strong acting with right-sounding voices and characterizations. Complimented throughout by realistic sound effects and original atmospheric music. 2 thumbs up for this one. A must for Laurence and all Stone Angel fans.

(left: final resting place of Laurence and her family, Neepawa, Manitoba cemetery near a river; right: the Stone Angel monument); we’ve been there a couple of times and visited her 2 houses, too)

(left; NFB did a memorable VHS which includes her taking on critics of her controversial novel The Diviners; right: her grandfather “MacLeod’s” house in A Bird in the House/the “big house”, now a museum; the smaller “Simpson” house can be seen from another street still)

Madu found to be in the wrong. Surprise, surprise.

What he did was illegal to say nothing of trying to create a reverse smokescreen by crying “racial profiling” which was absurd and so irrelevant in this case.

As a result, Kenney steps in two more cowpies, though, by not removing him from cabinet, but, instead, promoting him to another cabinet post! (He must have figured that Madu knew something about immigration if he played the racial profiling card.)

The other cowpie is slamming Shandro into Justice when he is already being investigated by the law society of Alberta. Like Madu, he has broken the law without guilt or conscience, so what is the rationale for bringing him back to further corrupt the same portfolio?

Armchair Travel During the Pandemic

A world of videos online for most countries. We have most of the Visions of series on DVDs, which was once on cable tv around 2005. These overviews, literally, of European countries from a helicopter with appropriate music and minimal narration are absolutely wonderful and soulfully pleasing.

Last evening we were revisiting Scotland and Wales from this outstanding collection. Very interesting and relaxing, too. Highly recommended DVDs.
