(In memory of Mike Nichols)
Two of my most formative which are also cinema classics: The Graduate and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Top-notch satires and two of the most truthful films about their times and about human nature. The best coming-of-age and social satire film of the ’60s and perhaps the most harrowing film about honesty in marriage and relationships ever made. Nichols at the absolute top of his (movie-director) game. Burton, Taylor, Hoffman, and Bancroft at their absolute best acting-performance-wise.
