This Gun for Hire (1942): Fun Noir

001 (72)

(a nice, clean DVD print from Universal–A Paramount Picture)

A nice mix of elements including Alan Ladd as Raven (a cat-loving professional killer),Veronica Lake (a pretty nightclub magician-singer), Robert Preston (her cop-boyfriend), and a successful script adaptation of a Graham Greene thriller A Gun for Sale (1936). Recommended: entertaining melodrama. Worth seeing for Ladd’s and Lake’s performances.
