Man and Nature by Design

This pic from behind The Inn at Laurel Point–a beautiful, private, quiet Japanese garden-retreat complete with bonsai and waterfall beside Victoria harbour. It seems to me that the Japanese culture has truly long understood the meditative possibilities of design in conjunction with Nature, unlike the West. Japanese gardens are always pleasant to explore and spend time in far from the madding Western crowd. I cannot get enough of the aesthetic sensibility of, say, a sacred place like the one pictured below. I can easily spend a long, long time lingering and contemplating as I did weekday mornings here this spring…
