Man and Nature by Design

This pic from behind The Inn at Laurel Point–a beautiful, private, quiet Japanese garden-retreat complete with bonsai and waterfall beside¬†Victoria harbour. It seems to me that the Japanese culture has truly long understood the meditative possibilities of design in conjunction with Nature, unlike the West. Japanese gardens are always¬†pleasant to explore and spend time in far from the madding Western crowd. I cannot get enough of the aesthetic sensibility of, say, a sacred place like the one pictured below. I can easily spend a long, long time lingering and contemplating as I did weekday mornings here this spring…
