Recalling all this today while watching an excellent tv special: Janis Ian: Live from Grand Center. (Ironically, I taught in Grand Centre, Alberta for three years to start my teaching career.)
Ms. Ian may well be my favorite female-folk-singer-and-composer of all time. She plays a strong guitar and piano, and her songs are straight-to/from-the-heart. Poignant, sensitive voice. A delightful survivor and inspiration in the wide world of entertainment.
