On the verge of cracking up
the 35 folks of Halley VI
awaiting ships and bulldozers
for a timely tow.
Chasm 1 has spoken–
the deep-ice wiggle
man once again
could not imagine
aims to put a fool’s notion
at risk once more.
Space-age-module madness
in the path of a
50-meter-deep fissure.
Kind of takes
your frozen breath away.
Man proposes.
Nature swallows.
Death by rift.
Yet another hi-tech dream
not all it was cracked up to be.
